Party Guidelines

We want Houseparty to be a safe place where you can be yourself. Help us help you. Respect everyone on Houseparty, don’t spam people, impersonate people or get naked. Follow the law or you know what will happen… the cops will break up your party. Don’t be that person that causes the ultimate party foul.

The Party Rules

We created the Community Guidelines so you can help us make this Houseparty a home. Let’s make this a place where everyone feels safe and comfortable being themselves. By using Houseparty, you agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Service. We’re committed to these guidelines and we hope you are too. Overstepping these boundaries might make your party get broken up, and could result in you getting kicked out of Houseparty. Forever.

Keep it friendly. Houseparty lets you hang out with your friends and their friends and maybe even their friends too, whether they’re sitting right next to you or joining from around the world. Be nice, and be inclusive. Everyone wants to feel welcome at the party.

Trolling and Impersonation

Houseparty doesn’t tolerate users attempting to deliberately mislead others by using false names or usernames. You are awesome, just be you.

No one likes to feel threatened, it ruins the Houseparty vibe. Predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, intimidation, invading privacy, revealing other people’s personal information, and inciting others to commit violent acts or to violate the Terms of Use are taken very seriously. Threatening behavior has no place on Houseparty, and will result in getting kicked out of this party. For life.

Pornography & Nudity

Houseparty prohibits users from distributing sexually explicit content or engaging in sexually explicit acts while on Houseparty. This Houseparty did not order a stripper. Any user reported for sexually explicit content will be asked to leave the party.

Respect Your Fellow Partygoers

We want to foster a positive, diverse community. It’s never OK to encourage violence or attack anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, or diseases. Serious threats of harm to public and personal safety aren’t allowed. This includes specific threats of physical harm as well as threats of theft, vandalism, and other financial harm. We carefully review reports of threats and consider many things when determining whether a threat is credible.

Help us keep the community strong:

Everyone at the party is important to making the Houseparty great. If you see something that you think may violate our guidelines, please help us by using our reporting tool. If you see something, say something.

You may meet someone you don’t like, but doesn’t violate the Community Guidelines. If that happens, you can un-friend or block the person with a simple tap. Haters be gone!

FYI, if you block someone else, they might know you blocked them. We may work with law enforcement, including when we believe that there’s risk of physical harm or threat to public safety.

Happy Partying,
